Awarding Certificates of Satisfaction to Children in Kankan Who Received Academic Support
October 25, 2025 — Kankan, Guinea
Act for Health in Africa, in partnership with the local NGO Kankan XXI, awarded certificates of achievement, certificates of participation, and gifts on October 25, 2025, to students who took part in the 5th and 6th editions of its academic support program (reading, writing, arithmetic). The ceremony was held at the Kankan Youth Center.
The program involved nearly 500 students per session, totaling about 1,000 beneficiaries for the year 2025, across the Drame Oumar I, Drame Oumar II, Missira Koko, and Bordo II schools. The classes, limited to 30 children for every 2 teachers, ran in two cycles (January-February-March and July-August-September), meeting two days a week.
Assessments conducted by the teaching teams show a significant improvement in the reading, writing, and arithmetic skills of the children in the program. The initiative also raised awareness about the importance of schooling and educated parents on their role in monitoring their children's education.
"We remain firmly committed to supporting education in Kankan and throughout Guinea, in order to give children the best possible chances for success," stated Prof. Gilbert Dechambenoit, president of Act for Health in Africa.
Jean Paul Cedy, Minister of Pre-University Education and Literacy: "Congratulations. You are doing good work. This is simply you giving back what good fortune has sown in you. I am available to support you in any way that falls within my duties."
Future plans: The program will be renewed and expanded in 2026 based on needs and resources. Efforts will be made to further engage parents and train teachers, and new partners will be sought to extend coverage to other schools in the region.
